Current Trends in Healthcare

The need for quality healthcare continues to rise, increasing the strain on the industry as staffing shortages see no end in sight. According to Globe Newswire, 2022 healthcare trends show digital health technology is here to alleviate some of that strain and will grow to 430.52 Billion by 2028, an increase from 145.57 Billion in 2021. Digital health covers a wide array of products and services including the following:

Telehealth

The past two years has shown an explosion in telehealth needs for providers and patients, with services now expanding far beyond the original offering of live video interaction. As consumer needs evolve, telehealth has come to include digital tools such as chatbots that leverage artificial intelligence, secure texting, and online portals designed to allow for personalized healthcare support.

Therapeutic Monitoring

Top healthcare trends also show an expanded need for virtual preventive care. Wearables, used by patients to monitor health conditions at home, will see an increase in use. Continuous glucose monitors, electrocardiograms done on-demand, and other monitoring and diagnostic tools will allow users to play an active part in their own healthcare.

Telehealth may allow consumers with limited access to in-person care or time constraints to be more engaged and able to catch small issues before they become something larger.
